7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Holocaust Museum 2000 E Cary St, Richmond, VA 23223

Join Temple Beth-El as we kick-off the second season of Encounter RVA for an open and honest conversation with two of Virginia's  leading politicians,  Del. Debra Rodman, Ph.D. (D) and Senator Siobhan Dunnavant, M.D. (R).  The goal of Encounter RVA is to bridge divides, deepen understanding, foster diverse relationships, and move our community forward in these troubled and divisive times.

Delegate Debra Rodman, Ph.D. serves as Associate Professor of Anthropology and Women’s Studies and Director of Women’s Studies at Randolph-Macon College. She is an advocate who has committed her life to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to achieve the American Dream. After 8 years of advocating for vulnerable people as an expert witness in Federal Court, Debra decided the time was right to put her skills to work for her neighbors. In 2016, Debra ran for Virginia’s House of Delegates seeking to expand access to affordable healthcare, fully fund public education and create good jobs in growing industries, like renewable energy and STEM. Senator Siobhan Dunnavant, M.D., the only physician currently serving in the Virginia Senate, was sworn in her first term of service on January 13, 2016. Committed to being a citizen legislator, she continues to practice medicine full time as a well-respected OB-GYN in private practice. In 2007, Siobhan worked to start a second innovative, small business – OB Hospitalists, a healthcare company that provides physician staffing for in-hospital OB-GYN services. A free market solution that improves patient care, quality and safety; reduces malpractice risk; improves doctor and nurse job satisfaction; and helps increase market share for hospitals. The service has recently expanded to include midwifery care allowing greater focus on a patient centered experience. Read more about Siohban Dunnavant here.
